What’s the wildest place in the capital?
It's the London Zoo, the perfect destination for a day trip extraordinaire in the heart of the city. Founded around 200 years ago, in 1828, we are proud to be the oldest scientific zoo in the world. Our estate in Regent’s Park has been home to hundreds of thousands of animals, welcomed tens of millions of visitors and put countless smiles on people’s faces since then.
Nowadays, the zoo has a strong commitment to animal welfare and conservation, two of the key principles of the Zoological Society of London which owns and runs the facility.
The zoo is made up of many areas, habitats and attractions, among them Monkey Valley, Tiger Territory, The Casson Pavilion, The Reptile House, In with the Lemurs, Penguin Pool and Three Island Pond. Together, they host almost 20,00 individual animals representing over 650 species.
This is the place in London where you can see animals, birds and insects from all over the world up close. You can also attend talks by our expert keepers as they interact with the animals, feeding sessions and special events. On site facilities include a range of restaurants and kiosks, seating and picnic areas, playgrounds, toilet and baby changing facilities and, of course, the gift shop.
We have everything you need for a perfect day out to remember, whether you’re bringing the kids, enjoying a day out with friends or organising a special trip for a group.
We look forward to your visit!
