Have you ever surfed? Would you like to try it out but are too scared? Don't worry! We've got your back!
At North Coast Watersport, we offer a wide range of surf lessons for all abilities! Whether you want to improve your surfing skills or have never been on a surfboard before, we have the perfect session for you! Although our main activity is surfing, we also offer standing-up paddleboarding lessons.
North Coast Watersport was created in April 2019 by Iona McLachlan and Finn McDonalds, two surf lovers! The first name may ring a bell since Iona won the Scottish Ladies' Surf Championship in 2019 and several others when she was younger. Her brother Craig, who won the Scottish Men's Championship in 2021, is a surf instructor at the company too. Finn is also a former under-18s champion! We couldn't have a better team!
We operate our lessons from Monday to Sunday at Dunnet Beach, the perfect beach for surf beginners: it is quite a deserted place with easy waves to surf! We have just started to offer them at Durness as well.
Don't think it twice and join us at North Coast Watersport to start your surf journey!

Scotland is a great country to visit because it has endless possibilities: beautiful monuments, fascinating museums, stunning scenery, and incredible cities with a lot to offer. But have you ever considered surfing in the very north of mainland Scotland?
Surfing is at the heart of what we do here at North Coast Watersports, founded in 2019 by Iona McLachlan and Finn McDonalds, both surf lovers and champions, and trained lifeguards. Although Iona has surfed all around the world, she knows the North Coast pretty well since it is her home area! Finn is a passionate instructor with a lot of experience! We also have Craig McLachlan as a surf instructor – he is Iona’s younger brother and the winner of the 2021 Scottish Surf Championship!
We run our sessions at Dunnet beach and Ceannabeinne beach, two ideal places for surf learning because of the quality of their waves and the tranquillity of the beaches.
We can assure you that you will find the activity that suits your wants and needs since we offer a wide range of options! We have both group and private lessons available. It doesn't matter whether you are a beginner or an improver; everyone is welcome!
Aside from the surf lessons, you can join us on some of our organized amazing surf trips or even hire surf equipment if you prefer to do your own thing!
What are you waiting for? Join us at North Coast Watersports and learn this incredible sport at one of the best places for cold water surf!

Do you want to exercise your whole body, improve your balance, strengthen your leg and core muscles and reduce stress? Do you want to do all that while having lots of fun? Then you cannot miss our SUP (Standup Paddleboarding) lessons at North Coast Watersports!
North Coast Watersport was born in 2019 as a surfing school, but it wasn't until the summer of 2020 that they started with SUP lessons. Ever since, our experienced instructors have been teaching some essential paddle techniques, as well as some tips on how to stand up on the board.
We offer both group and private lessons delivered by our incredible, fully trained ISA coaches: Iona and Finn, the company founders! However, if you feel like you don't need any lessons, it is also possible to hire just the equipment and practice standup paddleboarding on your own!
We operate our sessions at Scrabster Beach and Dwarwick Pier.
Don't miss this fantastic opportunity to learn how to standup paddleboard with us! We promise it will be a remarkable experience!
Should you have any doubts, please do not hesitate to contact us at North Coast Watersports! We will be delighted to assist you!
