Nick Thorn Surf Coaching is a company founded by prestigious surfing expert Nich Thorn. His 20 years of experience teaching people and getting trained in the best schools in the country and around the world has turned us into the reference center of water sports in Devon. We're located Putsborough Beach, part of Woolacombe Bay, considered one of the greatest coastline areas in the United Kindom.

To get here, you take the Challacombe Hill Road and Marine Drive if you take off from Woolacombe village and, in just a 4-minute drive, you'll be arriving. If you're coming from Putsborough, your drive will take 13 minutes along the Putsborough Road. 

We provide a great range of coasteering, paddleboarding and surfing activities. We believe that sport must be supported by excellence and hard work, so we are an Adventure Activities Licensing Authority's company, with safety is one of our key values. We also work with important associations related to our fields, like the Paddleboarding Southwest or the Surfers World organisations. With them, we try to upgrade our rules, the equipment and everything that we need to provide the best experiences.

Nick Thorn Surf Coaching is all about the sea and the sea provides the greatest paddleboarding opportunities at Putsborough Beach in Woolacombe Bay, the venue where we work. 

Our company is among the most highly rated in Devon and that's only because of the hard work that Nick Thorn, our founder, has put into providing the most fantastic paddleboarding experiences in the area. In fact, his 20 years of expertise have led us to where we are now and has allowed us to be work in partnership with the most prestigious associations, like the SUP Southwest, that work for offering the best training to coaches and that pay attention to issues like safety. 

In addition, our location is so well-connected from two of the main towns of the region. Thus, you can take Putsborough Road from the village of the same name and you'll be getting here in less than 15 minutes. If you come from Woolacombe, it will take you 4 minutes! Yes, you have read correctly! 

Paddleboarding is a great adventure to enjoy in private or group lessons and we offer both. It's also a fantastic sport for touring breathtaking places, like Lundy Island, which is at the Bristol Channel and it's part of the Landmark Trust since 2022.

At Nick Thorn Surf Coaching, we have the best ingredients to offer fantastic water sports activities. As we have one of the best beaches in the UK, Putsborough Beach, a part of Woolacombe Bay. We have to provide coasteering. Why? Because this coastline between Putsborough and Woolacombe has the best places to climb, jump and swim. 

Apart from the venue, we have become a reference in the field due to Nich Thorn's experience. He has been working for over two decades, training and coaching people of different levels and providing stunning adventures that you cannot forget. Because of that, we founded our school and, since then, we have become members of important associations like Coasteering South West, which promotes this sport in this part of the country. Moreover, we hold important certificates like the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority (AALA), which highlights our commitment with safety and adventurers' well-being while they are doing a coasteering session with us. We're also a Disclosure and Barring Service checked company because we provide sessions to all the family members and kids are more than welcome here!

To get to our meeting point, you can choose between coming from Woolacombe (drive along the Challacombe Hill Road and Marine Drive) or from Putsborough, which the main road will take you here in less than 15 minutes.

It's also a place with fantastic road connections, as you can arrive at our headquarters by driving along Putsborough Road, from Putsborough; or Challacombe Hill Road and Marine Drive, from Woolacombe town centre.
