Aztec Watersports is a purpose built activity centre which specialises in:

• windsurfing
• sailing
• canoeing
• kayaking

We take advantage of a naturally spring fed lake, the perfect place to learn something new or improve your watersports skills. Furthermore, the centre is accredited by The Royal Yachting Association (RYA) and The British Canoe Union (BCU).

We welcome groups and families. Why not try a taster course with a friend to see how we work, and inform yourself about a particular sport that your interested in. We guarantee that you´ll be signing up for a full course afterwards. We also specialize in children´s courses, which we have been running since 1993. Our team of skilled instructors will make their learning experience fun and one to remember. You may also hire equipment which can be used within our facilities. Our equipment is up to date and modern.

We have a great selection of paddle sports, one of the most popular being canoeing. A canoe is a small narrow boat propelled by the use of a paddle. The paddler is sat facing the direction of travel and uses the paddle to steer the boat where he or she wishes to go. At Aztec Watersports Canoeing you can choose to paddle a closed or open canoe.

Many people do not understand the difference between canoes and kayaks; it has to do with the design of the boats. The most obvious differences are that in a canoe you kneel as oppose to sit and you paddle with a single-bladed paddle rather than a double-bladed paddle. The amount of fun is the same!

We have a great choice of boats for you to choose from at Aztec Watersports Canoeing. Furthermore, if you have any doubts about canoeing you may wish to complete a taster session before committing yourself to a complete course. We provide all the necessary equipment, which is also available to hire allowing you to practice in-between lessons! Kayaking can also be referred to as a paddle sport, similar to canoeing. How do we differentiate the two? Well, in a kayak the paddler is face-forward and uses a double-bladed paddle to steer the boat. The deck of the boat is normally closed too.

Aztec Watersports Kayaking is recognised by the British Canoe Union (BCU) and we run both the one and two star courses which will introduce you perfectly to the world of kayaking. If you simply wish to go kayaking rather than complete a structured course, you may hire a kayak depending on availability. We have the best kayaks and ensure that they are regularly checked for any potential problems.

Once you have mastered our lake with your kayak you may wish to try whitewater kayaking, which involves taking a kayak down rapids!

Sailing, like windsurfing, relies upon the wind to power the boat. At Aztec Watersports Sailing we understand the mechanics of sailing and, most importantly, know how to teach the techniques effectively. If you are interested in sailing, or a similar water surface sport, we have taster sessions to help you make a more informed decision.

Sailing is a great activity. The ability to control a boat is an art; the sailor has to manage the force of the wind on the sails in order to steer the boat correctly and safely. We use Topper sailing boats at the Aztec Watersports Sailing centre which perfectly suit the size of the lake.

The basic sailing techniques which you will learn are:

• trim
• reducing sail
• sail trimming
• hull trim
• heeling

Are you interested in learning to windsurf? We have the perfect solution: Aztec Watersports Windsurfing taster sessions. Basically, you can try before you commit yourself to a full course! Although, we guarantee that in the taster session you will be bitten by the windsurfing bug. Windsurfing is a popular activity among many children and adults, and depends on the wind and sail to power the board. We have a great choice of rigs and boards to suit all age groups.

In case you didn´t already know, windsurfing is a surface water sport which combines elements of sailing and surfing.  The board is usually two to four meters long, depending on your size and ability. The sail is attached to the board with a mast; its size also depends upon your ability, the size of the board and the strength of the wind on any particular day. As you progress you will learn how to jump, spin and maneuver your board with style and ease.

At Aztec Watersports Climbing we have a specially constructed mobile rock climbing wall with grips for your hands and feet. It is 26ft tall and supports four climbers at any one time. It is built to imitate actual rock climbing situations. You can practice with us before attempting the real thing! The wall also uses the latest Belay in the box security system, which basically takes up the slack when you start to climb and when you are ready to come down it will safely lower you to the ground. Your safety is very important to us, and for this reason we only use up to the date equipment and employ trained professionals to help you with your mission to reach the top.

Rock climbing is a fun activity for all ages and abilities. The wall is mobile which enables you to hire it for a special event or occasion and we will bring it to you hassle-free! Here are a few wall-rental options which may be of interest to you:

Aztec Watersports Archery is designed to teach and develop the necessary skills related to archery. In the past, archery was used for hunting and combat. Fortunately, at Aztec Watersports Archery our only targets will be fixed points! We offer private lessons as well as multi-activity days. There are also special prices for schools, colleges and other similar organisations. Furthermore, we have a completely mobile-based service: if you have the appropriate space we can deliver our archery team to you.

Archery, or target archery as it is more commonly known today, is very popular and can be very competitive depending on your skill. The special target, which you can see in the gallery of photos, has 10 evenly spaced concentric rings. Each ring has a different score value from 1 to 10. The inner ring is called the bull´s eye and should be your primary target in order to receive the highest score.
