Tips if you are going to do Wakeboarding in United Kingdom

Wakeboarding combines all the best parts of surfing, water skiing and snowboarding – coming together into a sport that excels in providing a high-octane, adrenaline-fuelled experience that you’ll never be able to forget. Being pulled by a speedboat on what is essentially a snowboard/surfboard hybrid is both tricky to master but well worth the wait. Not to mention that it is an incredible full-body workout all bundled together into a fun experience – why wouldn’t you want to give it a go! Here are our top 5 reasons why you should try wakeboarding in the UK.
1. Welcomes people of all abilities
Whilst the notion of riding waves whilst being pulled by a high-power speedboat may seem daunting at first, the most important piece of advice you’ll hear from instructors is that if you have the determination, anyone can learn. Of course, at the start you’ll fall over and over again, but at the end of the day you will be able to do it. What’s more, if you’re already an avid wakeboarder there are plenty of centres all over the UK that will allow you to hone your skills – there really is anything for everyone!
2. Challenge yourself
Your biggest opponent is yourself when you go wakeboarding. It’s inevitable to be feeling afraid of what you’re about to do, and it’s quite daunting to set eyes on the boat you will be wakeboarding from, but once you overcome that initial shock and get to actually doing it, the feeling of achievement you’ll get is incredible. As mentioned previously, if you have the determination you’ll learn no matter what, and you’ll soon see it’s not as hard as it seems. Furthermore, as you get better there’s always new tricks and challenges to overcome that will constantly be pushing you to your limits.
3. High-octane fun
Most important, wakeboarding is FUN. Really fun. The adrenaline you feel whilst going at high speeds, the breeze in your hair and the feeling of weightlessness on top of the water is incredibly addictive; no matter how often you go, you’ll always be left wanting more. Whether you’re just starting your wakeboarding journey and cruising along the water, or performing jumps and tricks with decent airtime, you are absolutely guaranteed to have an amazing time!
4. Improve your dexterity
The sport itself builds a great deal of general dexterity to perform; there are sudden shifts of direction depending on the boat’s movement and waves, with your body having to adjust to keep you afloat accordingly. You’ll improve your reaction time and versatility with technical movements through keeping up with the boat and having to stay focused on what’s happening underneath you. Furthermore, once you get started with the tricks you’ll train your attention to detail and mind-muscle connection with your hands and feet, to ensure you’re in the right position when you land a jump.
5. Great muscle-building workout
Overall, wakeboarding provides the ultimate full-body workout. Your core will strengthen from keeping your balance and having to adapt to the movements of the boat and the waves, and you’ll get stronger arms and legs through having to maintain poses against the torque of the boat’s speed – not to mention the muscular stability needed to complete the technical turns and twists when you eventually get to tricking. Not only will you be enjoying yourself whilst burning calories, you’ll also building your muscles and strengthening your core. Get ready to have a great time and a great body!
When should I go wakeboarding in the UK?
We would suggest to go wakeboarding when the wind speed is low, the sun is out and the rain clouds are at bay. This way there won’t be much tide interference with the waves you’ll be riding, and the water will be warm enough to enjoy just as much under as over. However, if you’re more advanced and looking to practice your tricks and get as much airtime as possible, why not try going in the winter when the swells are higher!
