SOEC's Broomlee Centre is located only 18 miles south of Edinburgh.  Despite being so close, it feels like the countryside  and is a great place for school, youth, corporate groups to come and have a great adventure. It´s also a great place for events with more than 800 people attending with one of our regular bookings. With a great number of things to do, Broomlee is perfectly located for people come and enjoy the great outdoors.  Some of the activities that you can do while staying at Broomlee are;

  • hillwalking
  • Hiking
  • Archery
  • low and high ropes

SOEC been providing people access to the great outdoors for over 65 years, and are one of  the largest provider of residential outdoor learning in Scotland. All the programmes on offer are built to be challenging and exciting to the people that do them with learning outcomes being the focus of our programming.

Whilst Broomlee mainly focuses on meeting the needs of school groups for a school programme week, many other youth and community groups find our facilities and activities perfectly suited to their needs.  Whether you are a guide or scout group, a Duke of Edinburgh Award expedition, someone looking for a venue for a training course, special event or celebration, Broomlee may be just the place you are looking for.  Activity days also available.

Description of Scottish Outdoor Education Centre Broomlee Mountain Biking

Take advantage of feeling like you are in the countryside, when you are just 14 miles away from Edingburgh while you are staying at SOEC's Broomlee Centre. Bring along your mountain bikes to ride the great trails at Glentress while you are staying at SOEC's Broomlee Centre.  You will be able to wash down your bike after a hard days riding, and there is a secure bike storage area.

The Scottish Outdoor Education Centres as a whole have been providing people access to the great outdoors for over 65 years, and are the largest provider of residential outdoor learning in Scotland. All the programmes on offer are built to be challenging and exciting to the people that do them.

Hiking is a great activity to do while you are staying at The Scottish Outdoor Education Centre Broomlee. Take advantage of feeling like you are in the countryside, when you are just 14 miles away from Edingburgh. 

You are also able to take part in expeditions put on by The Scottish Outdoor Education Centre over a 10 day period, learning many skills along the way. Some of the things that you will do along your expedition are;
