As well as enjoying the natural environment, we are committed to protecting it. We ride our quad bikes on private land, keeping to designated trails and working with the ecosystems. Our property is on the shore of Derwentwater, one of the most beautiful lakes in the Park. We are just a few miles outside Keswick, and you can reach us by car or boat! If you’re driving, you can leave your car with confidence in our secure car park.

Both our quads and our e-bikes are top-off-the-range machines which we keep maintained to the highest standards. This makes quad trekking or mountain biking an incredibly satisfying experience. As well as the vehicles, we always provide safety equipment to our clients. We keep client-to-instructor ratios low and tailor our activities to the needs of the group.

Lake District Off-Road is the premier provider of Quad Biking in the Lake District National Park. There are a number of reasons for that. First of all, we have a stunning setting on the bank of Derwentwater where we ride our quad bike on private trails through woodland and across moorland. It’s just a 4-mile journey from Keswick, the Park’s base camp.

Then, there’s the quad bikes, which are Can Am models with huge 450 cc engines. These aren’t hobbyist vehicles, but tough ATVs (All Terrain Vehicles) which are built to work in areas of mountainous terrain. Incidentally, we also have a fleet of e-bikes which we offer for rent, allowing you to explore trails around the area.

Finally, there’s the way we run our activities. We have a team of highly trained, fully qualified instructors who lead groups of no more than 4 riders, each on their own bike. We do off-roading properly, forget about mindlessly opening the throttle and learn instead how to handle the quad bike correctly. It’s an incredibly satisfying experience.

So come to Lake District Off-Road and take advantage of our Bike Rental service. You’ll get your hands on not just any bicycle, but an e-bike, which will allow you to explore far more of the National Park than you could hope to under your own steam.

E-bikes have an electric motor which we charge up at our HQ. Full of juice, they will keep you going for hours, making a particular difference when going uphill. You can hire one or more bikes for half a day of the full day and set off on an amazing journey, even if you’ve never ridden an e-bike before.

From our base on the west shore of Derwentwater, just a few miles from Keswick, there’s a huge variety of trails to follow and circular routes to complete. You’re welcome to plan out your own itinerary in advance or ask for advice and guidance from our team of experienced instructors. They can help you choose a route based on your desired difficulty, photo opportunities, duration and more.
