Adelong means, among other things, "rivers and water" and, like them, we like taking away things that affect us in order to bring the peace that we can find practising sport. And if we talk about symbols, our logo is also an ancient Indigenous mark from Australia that represents the power and knowledge that women have and share with young generations.
So, yes, this is Adelong Outdoor Education, a company that is mainly run by women, and we are located in Devon, a county that has been connected to water and which has been praised for centuries because of its coasts and grounds for outdoor activities.
And about our activities, we want to talk about: we have a great offer of different sessions for everyone, from coasteering to caving and rock climbing. Though we think sport is good for improving our physical and mental health, we also bet on its impact on groups and families because it helps us make our bonds stronger.
What else can we tell you about us? First, our installations are in Brixham, but our sports sessions can be held in different points of Devon, all of them well-connected by car. In the end, we are in a very rich land of the UK, so you can go rock climbing at Haytor, a great granite hill in Dartmoor; or go caving at Pridhamsleigh Cave, in Ashburton, where you will explore the underground of Devon.
In addition, our team has a great commitment to youth and that's why we have been trained or are youth workers. After all, sport can also be a therapy for people, especially for juniors.
Don't miss the chance of coming to Devon. We have the best activity for you and you will have a great time with your beloved ones!

Canoeing. The word itself produces the rhythm of the paddles hitting the water. At our school, you will enjoy the famous River Dart Estuary, among other marine territories in Devon, a popular county here in the UK for having a wonderful holiday practising water sports thanks to the incredible coastline that we have.
So, why should choose Adelong for canoeing? First of all, and most importantly, because we're a local company that is not only pleased welcoming adventurers like you each day, but because we know different traditions and the history of our town, so you can spend a nice time doing sport and getting in touch with our culture.
In addition, we're a problem and doubts solving team and, as you may be a canoeing beginner, we offer you personalized tuition to make all your questions go away.
So, what do you need to keep in mind before coming to have a great time with us? Well, that you will get great training before jumping into one of our open canoes, one of the most stables canoes ever, and you will learn how to manage paddles, how you should be sitting on the boat or how you should dress to be comfortable during your time on the water (remember that we provide equipment like buoyancy aids and that you should dress accordingly to keep you warm).
And where should you go for starting the activity? We have different locations in South Devon to offer you a huge range of experiences. To canoe on the Dart Estuary, you have to take the A381 and reach Sharpham Estate, a land where delicious and award-winning cheese and wine are produced, where we will meet. If you go to Berry Head, in Brixham, you have to go straight to the harbour.
Why is Adelong a different school? Well, because all our monitors follow a simple rule: "We respect people, we take seriously their safety and we praise environment above all". Also, we are a well-prepared team of professionals and most of us have studied courses and degrees related to young people, family therapy, outdoor activities...
Come and discover the stunning waterways of Devon with us and discover a world of beautiful nature through canoeing!

Let's make it clear: Adelong is the greatest company in Devon for canyoning. We don't say it just because, but adventurers are our best argument. And why? Because we are a team with people who have worked with other people and in the field of outdoor activities for over a decade. Most of them have been awarded by National Governing Body for their talent and social abilities.
Where should you go if you decide canyoning with us? To Dewerstone, a protected land in the Dartmoor National Park that, for the record, is a non-touristic place and has available parking areas for you to park.
Why is this location the best for practising the activity? Apart from its scientific values thanks to protected creatures like bats, the rocks are steady for you to walk without worrying, woods are full of hedgerows and waters are flat. Without a doubt, at Adelong, we love what water gives us and we can't avoid thinking of Florence & The Machine's song What the water gave me whenever we are here!
How do you get here? You have to drive to Shaugh Prior until you reach Dewestone Car Park where we'll meet.
As you see, we have all for having fun. The only thing that you must do is come and be willing to try our adventure!

Coasteering with us will take you to three great locations in Devon and they are one of the main reasons for us to be proud of our company. We know that jumping from a cliff, rock climbing and swimming, which are pretty much what this multi-activities adventure is about, can seem the same despite the place. But let's not lie, the areas that we have for you and your family or your group of friends are the best of South Devon: Brixham, Torquay and Start Point.
They are places where the architecture reflects the spirit of the zone: colourful and picturesque. Water is that important for us that you can actually enjoy fish at local restaurants because we are the most important fishing villages in the UK.
What else do you need to know that we are the best company for practising coasteering? You can get without a problem to our different meeting points by driving: in Brixham, you have to reach the harbour and, from there, get to Berry Head; in Torquay, you have to drive Anstey’s Cove Road and you will get to the parking zone where we'll meet; and at Start Point, you have to follow the A379.
As we take your safety seriously because it doesn't matter if you are a beginner or have previous experience, we have the best buoyancy aids on the markets as well as helmets and waterproof suits. You don't need to bring any special equipment, but comfortable clothes to wear and spare clothes to change right afterwards.
But we insist: locations are what make us special and we know that you will spend a wonderful day exploring Devon through colourful houses, white cottages, high mountains and harbours like those that appear in James Bond's movies!

Climbing has been an important sport for Adelong thanks to our location: Devon. Here, we have a great diversity of areas for practising this activity so you can almost feel that you are in different towns. This is great for climbing lovers, because each time you come, you can choose a different location and know Devon to its fullest.
Where are those locations that we've been talking about? We hold sessions at Dewestone, a spot within Dartmoor Park that, for centuries, has made artists and intellectuals fall in love with its rocky landscape like Jane Loudon; Torquay, a town that looks as if has been taken off from a James Bond's movie with its splendid harbour; or Chudleigh Rocks, that is probably the most popular spot in Devon for climbing and that adventures love because of the limestone mountains that make climbing so much easy.
A recurrent question that many of you have asked before coming is if you must wear gloves for the session. Our answer is clear: no. We provide all you need (helmets, harnesses...), but gloves are not useful for ascending and they may destabilize you.
We are here for you and we have different climbing options waiting for you to enjoy! Just dare to come!

Tunnel deep under Devon and find a subterranean world of adventure with Adelong Outdoor Education Caving.
As we know that you may have some questions about our company's caving experience, we would like to use this space for trying to solve most of them. So, let's get into it!
First, many of you may wonder how you should get ready for caving. That's easy, you don't need previous preparation for this experience. As we have designed it for beginners, all of you are welcome and we adapt the tour keeping in mind how comfortable you feel and we always pay attention to basic conditions like oxygen, space, physical features of our adventurers... Our equipment is also the best (protecting helmet, flashlights... To sum up, you don't need previous physical preparation to enjoy the activity with us.
Where is the session going to be held? At Pridhamsleigh Cave, which has different paths, so this makes it the best place for beginners in this sport because we can take different routes.
Is caving safe activity? With us, yes! It's possible that you have read that you may get lost when caving and it's true, but our instructors are experts of this part of Devon, so you are in good hands. Others get injuries while crawling, but though it's normal, we have to remind you that Pridhamsleigh Cave is very muddy, so the only thing you're going to get is some dirt all over your face and clothes.
Does it exist a risk of a cave collapse while you are having fun with us? No, the risks are low. Pridhamsleigh Cave has no records of massive collapses in the past, it's a very open underground place and that's why we have chosen it as the stage of our session.
How can you reach the meeting point and where is it? You have to take the A38 and you will reach a huge sign welcoming you to Pridhamsleigh. You will find a large parking area where you can leave your car.
