Welcome to Borlum Farm!
Located outside Lewiston on the shores of Loch Ness, Borlum Farm is a historic farm dating back to the 1500s with its service to Urquhart Castle. The farm gave castle residents and retainers necessary sustaining provisions. Sheep and horses still graze the fields around the castle today.
Nearby Inverness offers a shopping centre, museums, theatre, a swimming pool, curling, and golf. It is on a good bus route and is only a twenty-minute drive away.
The area provides stunning scenery and much to do and see for everyone. There are many roads and paths that lie deep within the mountains and glens, allowing for frequent sightings of buzzards, roe deer, herons, red squirrels, and other animals. The wildlife is especially easy to spot on horseback, as the wild animals are more used to seeing horses and don't run at the sight of them. We are also in a great location to search for the Loch Ness Monster, but unfortunately, we cannot guarantee a sighting.
We provide four traditionally built cottages overlooking Loch Ness. They offer amenities such as fully equipped kitchens and multiple bathrooms. Dogs are welcome so long as they're well behaved.
We also offer horseback riding for all levels over an extensive trail network. We have 400 acres of our own land, and partnerships with other local landowners mean that we can provide a large and diverse number of riding experiences. If one has their own horse that they wish to ride, they may do so and have access to all of our facilities when there are spots available. We usually only take groups one at a time, so there is typically some space available.
We are also the centre for the Riding for the Disabled Association (Highland Group). Our indoor school features ramps and mounting facilities for the disabled. The toilet facilities are also wheelchair friendly.
