Everyone has their personal reasons for wanting to learn to ride a horse. Horse riding has numerous benefits both mentally and physically that are share amongst all those who learn how to ride – whether you’re into equestrian or just riding for fun. It’s a great way to build relationships not only with those you choose to go with, but with the horse itself, and you’ll learn to appreciate nature in new and exciting ways. Here are our top 5 reasons why you should go horse riding in the UK!
1. Keeps you fit and healthy
It takes a lot of effort to ride a horse! If you believe the horse does all the labour, think again. You'll feel like you've had a good workout after just an hour in the saddle traversing up and down hills. It does wonders for your abs, back, and core muscles. Water and hay, not to mention all the heavy lifting that goes on around horses, are not light in the slightest! As they use their entire body to steer and urge the horse forward, riders can improve their reflexes, balance, and coordination. Riding is also good for your heart and can burn hundreds of calories per ride!

2. Build your character
Horse riding instils responsibility in people who ride and, even more importantly, in those who care for horses. Horse owners must know how to care for their horses in both good and bad health. Additionally, horseback riding also teaches patience, discipline, understanding, empathy, compassion, self-control, and dedication, among other things.

3. Relax and relieve stress
Riding a horse is calming. The therapeutic aspects of riding have been demonstrated to alleviate muscle stiffness by stretching out tight muscles due to the horse's natural motion. We all know how pleasant going for a walk can be. When riding a horse, the rider's pelvis moves in the same way as if he or she were walking. Riding has also been shown to increase joint range of motion, allowing riders to move more freely.

4. Experience beautiful companionship
Horses, like humans, are sociable animals. People have already been found to benefit from being able to talk and interact with animals, as those already active horse riders have discovered. There's nothing quite like loving a horse. One of the best reasons to learn to ride is the human-animal bond. Horses are eager to join their riders as true partners. The link that emerges when people are treated with respect, decency, and love is absolutely beautiful and uplifting.

5. It’s fun!
Anyone who has ever sat on the back of a horse understands how much fun it is. After all, why would equestrians spend so much money and effort on horses if they didn't love them? Because it is well worth the effort. Riding, more than any other hobby, may make you feel more alive. It has a sense of adventure about it. It allows for freedom of mobility and allows for incredible athletic achievements.

When should I go horseback riding?
The most beautiful part about going for horse riding is that you can go whenever you want, wherever you want. All throughout the year, nature provides you with different environments and weather to enjoy – each with their own quirks. Whether you want to enjoy riding watching the sunset, or trekking on your horse through the snow, whatever the occasion there will be a horse will be waiting to go on an adventure with you! Furthermore, if it’s raining and you don’t fancy getting wet, there are plenty of indoor circuits all across the UK.
