We are a hang gliding school located in Peak District National Park. Our location gives us access to many different slopes, making people proficient in hang gliders since 1978. For those who aren't familiar, hang gliding is the unpowered flight in which the pilot hangs under a strong set of wings in a harness and controls the device with his or her own body. It feels very natural and is the closest one can get to flying like a bird!
Over 8-10 days, we will teach you how to hang glide through a series of increasingly advanced flights. You will start out flying just above the ground on shallow hills and, by the end of the session, you will be able to potentially fly for hours, catching updrafts to elongate your flight, just as birds do!
Our school is BHPA registered, and with training, hang gliding is no more dangerous than horseback riding or skiing.
While you train with us, we will provide you with several types of hang gliders. This allows you to use progressively higher performing, but slightly harder to control gliders as you advance. We will also provide you with different types of harnesses as you improve your skills and quality hangs gliding helmets.
