t’s been a long road, but Manchester City F.C. are the champions of the country and the continent!
Visit us at our home ground, the Etihad Stadium, to find out more about the City story. Founded in 1880 - and playing in our trademark sky blue colours since 1894 - we are one of the most historic football clubs in the United Kingdom. After a first peak in the late 1960s and early 1970s and a subsequent period in the lower leagues, in the 20th century we returned to the Premier League and have since reached heights that no other English Football Club has achieved before.
Among the 33 trophies we’ve one on the national and European stage, the highlights have to be the 2018-19 season when we took the domestic treble (winning the Premier League, the FA Cup and the League Cup) and 2022-23 when achieved the European treble, triumphing in the Premier League, the FA Cup and the UEFA Champions League.
Our ground, the Etihad Stadium (also known as the City of Manchester Stadium) hosts our home games. You can also visit it for a guided tour. The stadium was originally built for the 2002 Commonwealth Games, with the design winning several awards for its design and the engineering behind it. City moved in in 2003, expanding the venue in the 2015-16 season to hold 53,400 spectators as the club reached the heights of association football.
If you take a tour of the stadium, you’ll enjoy the public spaces as well as the behind-the-scenes areas including the dugout, the press room and the hospitality suite. Expert guides will let you in on all the secrets behind the team’s success and answer any questions you have. You’ll also learn about other uses of the stadium, including hosting matches of the England national team and a fixture of the 2015 Rugby World Cup, boxing matches and concerts, where the likes of AC/DC, Coldplay and Bruce Springsteen have played to crowds of tens of thousands.
