Welcome to Southampton University Gliding Club!
We are a friendly and tight-knit group, who always welcome new members to our club. If you are a beginner we will help you learn and develop, and if you are a more experienced pilot we will help push and challenge you further. Or if you just want to enjoy some relaxing flights just for the experience, that´s ok too! And if you´re worried if it is difficult, but if you are physically fit enough to drive a car and hold a license, you can probably fly a glider solo!
The flights are tailored using a powerful winch - clean, economical and effective. Also, depending on the climate conditions, the training could last about ten minutes.
We fly most weekends from Lasham Gliding Society's airfield near Alton, and our flying day is usually a full one, to ensure that everyone gets a chance to fly.
There are great catering facilities at Lasham, with main meals available as well as snacks and refreshments. There is also a club bar to enjoy once we have finished!
