Banbury Gliding Club

Welcome to Banbury Gliding Club!

We offer flights, lessons and experience gliding at our excellent site at Hinton Airfield, Northants. We have a fantastic fleet and facilities for training, and a dry site all year round. We are open on weekends and bank holidays, and some midweek days, especially when the flying conditions are good. We have three club two-seater gliders, two club single seat gliders, and around 20 privately owned gliders, launched by two powerful tug aircraft.

We are a friendly club and welcome all levels of abilities and visitors from other clubs. We have around 80 members, varying from teenagers, as it is possible to fly sole from age 16, right up to those who are enjoying their retirement. There is no upper age for flying, and our members include complete beginners and those who have been doing it for years.

We don´t employ staff, and instead, to keep costs down, all work is done by the members where possible. We provide instruction free from qualified club member instructors, and any routine maintenance is all carried out by members who are supervised by qualified and certified persons, and we use professional assistance where necessary.
