Welcome to Groat´s Charters
The Charles-Ann, is a 350 hp turbocharged modern angling vessel, capable of cruising at 16 knots, and fully equipped with electronics, radar, GPS, autopilot and colour sounder. She is licensed to carry up to 12 people, up to 60 miles offshore.
Her owner, Harvey Groat, is also your skipper, and a Shapinsay resident with over 20 years experience in Orkney waters. Harvey is a member of the National Federation of Chartered Skippers.
We provide teas, coffees and biscuits on board and aim to make your cruise an enjoyable and fun experience.
Fishing Trips
Even if you are not staying on Shapinsay, you can still book fishing trips with us if you are staying on the Orkney mainland or even another island. The pick up and drop off points can be arranged whether on Shapinsay or at Kirkwall pier.
We cater for all anglers, from noices to the more experienced. Families and company and corporate groups are also welcome. We will provide you with bait and rods are available to hire.
Island Trips
Our island trips provide you with the opportunity to sightsee and dive around around Orkney's many inhabited and uninhabited islands. Here there is a large variety of reefs, wrecks, seals and birds.
Fishing Holiday Accomodation
Bed and Breakfast is available all year rounf for fishing holidays in our local establishments on Shapinsay. There is even the choice to stay in the castle. Optional evening meals are also available, and further details regarding accomodation, cost, etc.are available on application.
