Description of GO Angling Charter Services

Welcome to GO Angling Charter Services

We are based at Holyhead Marina, on the beautiful Isle of Anglesey, North Wales. The area provides a range of mixed grounds, offering you excellent and varied fishing. Mud, shingle, rock and sand banks all with in reach.

Your charter trip includes tea, coffee and hot snacks, and there is also a galley onboard with a hob, oven and grill for your use if required.

We provide excellent quality rods and reels free of charge, and the set up comes with 1 end rig and weight.

The Boat

Our boat is ´My Way´, insured, licensed and equipped for 10 anglers. She carries all necessary safety equipment, such as life jackets, life rings and a medical kit, and has a toilet on board.

The Skipper

The skipper and owner of My Way is Gethyn Owen. Born locally, he has extensive knowledge of the area, and has been fishing from a young age. He is an experienced and enthusiastic angler himself, and will provide you with any advice and instruction that you need to make sure you get the most from your day on the water.

General Fishing

The Anglesey coastline is littered with different types of sea bed; ranging from rocks & reefs, sand banks, mud flats and shingled areas, all this together with quickly accessible inshore wrecks (there are over 200 around the Anglesey coast), general angling opportunities around our coast are phenomenal.
Our fishing grounds include some of the most prolific in north Wales: - Holyhead bay, Holyhead deeps, Trearddur bay, Victoria bank,  Caernarfon bay and the Irish sea.

Tides & Times
A good days general fishing can be achieved on tides ranging from 27' to 33'. Fishing can be hectic all year round in Holyhead, however April through to November are the most productive of times. The winter months see plenty of action inshore from whiting, dabs and dogs, with some nice pollack, coalies and codling on the reefs.

Rods & Reels
Downtiding or uptiding will see a variety of species caught. Down tide rods should range in the 12lb to 20lb range and uptiders generally the 4 - 8oz bracket. Heavier Uptiders are sometimes used when seeking out the very big tope. Reels can range in size and type, from both fixed spool to multiplier - here it has to be what you are comfortable with, no point changing reel and not enjoying your day afloat. There are a host of different makes and models to choose from however with reels sized similar to the Shimano Calcutta, Daiwa's sl30sh or the Abu 7000 sized reels you can't go far wrong. Mainline in the 20 - 25lb range either mono or braid.

WOULD REPEAT!
David Guest 10 Very good
1st Sept 14 Had a day on My Way with skipper Gethyn Owen. Mixed crew of individuals on board.

Geth quickly broke the ice and made everyone feel welcome and part of the day out, whilst quickly getting a brew on. Weather not the best that day, but Gethyn worked at it to find the fish with everyone catching.

Geth is without doubt the best skipper i have had a days fishing with. Very approachable, knowledgeable, and helpful. If he ever failed as a skipper he would do well as a chef;

Geth makes a mean chili wrap! Definitely recommended. Just wish i didn't live so far inland! Dave G'.
