Welcome to Barra Fishing Charters
Barra Fishing Charters run sea angling, wildlife spotting, island tours and private charter from the beautiful island of Barra from May until September.
Our Vessle
We use a Lochin 33 Sports Fisherman named the Boy James. It is 10.06m in length and has a cruising speed of 15kts. It is fitted with up to date navigational equipment such as VHF’s, colour sounder, radar, autopilot, GPS, plotter, and more.
The vessel complies with MCA safety and licensing regulations, and carries all of the necessary safety equipment required, including lifejackets, life vests, lifebuoys, fire extinguishers, and more. We are able to carry up to 12 people.
Whilst on your trip we also provide refreshments free of charge, and also waterproof oilskins, but hopefully these will not be needed!
Sea-Angling
Sea-angling is an activity that can be enjoyed by all, whether you are an experienced angling or a complete novice. Species that you can hope to catch include pollack, coley, mackerel, saithe, and you might even be lucky enough to catch an Atlantic salmon. We provide a large range of fishing equipment for free, including rods and tackle, which are all to the highest standard and specifically designed for sea angling.
Wildlife Spotting
This is a wonderful day out for the family or those with a keen interest in wildlife. You will be able to see various species in the area, such as seals, cormorants, gannets, shags, dolphins, basking sharks, and more, plus a large variety of seabirds. .
Island Tours
As well as the isle of Barra, there are also many other beautiful islands to explore in the area, such as Barra Head and Pabbay. The now uninhabited island of Mingulay is also a very popular choice, and it boasts magnificent sea-cliffs and bird colonies, and a large variety of flora and fauna.
Private Charter
If you would prefer a private charter this can also be arranged with us. It can include sea-angling, trips to the neighbouring islands, or a mixture of everything that we offer.
