Description of Beginner White Water Kayaking in River Oich for 3h
Scottish Highlands has the best features for you to have fun with our white water funyakking activity or, in another word, a beginner white water kayaking session that we've been offering in River Oich since 2012 and that people who have tried have fallen madly in love with it.
Once you are dressed in a wetsuit and are wearing your protection helmet, you can jump into an inflatable kayak that we put at your disposal and enjoy our 3-hour adventure thought for people older than 12 years old without previous experience that will take you down the river and will make you reach the Loch Ness (indeed, it's the lovely lake where Nessie lives!) while you have fun beholding Ben Nevis (the tallest mountain in the whole Scotland).
So, what is the difference between our white water funyakking and kayaking itself? That's easy: funyakking is a fun and easy way to start your kayaking experience or, in the end, the best option for gaining confidence and improving your abilities and skills before going rough on kayaking!
In addition, you will be under the attention of Andy Burton, a professional with over 15 years of experience in the field, or Fraser Gun, a teacher of our team.
At the same time, you have to know that there are many rivers and lakes in Fort William. So, although our location will be River Oich as we have said before, we can change the place for funyakking because of the weather conditions. In the end, our goal is your fun and, of course, your safety.
Before you book your activity, we would like to remind you that all equipment is included (but don't bring sandals, only comfortable shoes that you don't mind them getting wet) and we have to say too that, when you practise funyakking, boats are easier to use and are more stable than when we kayak because that's precisely what we want: that you feel comfortable with this incredible sport!

Description of Beginner Kayaking Trip in Great Glen for 4 hours
The first thing to do when you start our incredible half-day kayaking trip? Knowing all the details: this is an amazing 4-hour tour at the very centre of Great Glen where you can go on your own or with a partner (up to 7 years old for tandem option by the side of an adult and up to 12 for private kayaking solo trips) on the wonderful land of Loch Oich and the Caledonian Canal. This trip is for beginners, so to begin, our team will show how to wear properly the wetsuit that will keep you warm and dry during the adventure. Next, you will learn which tools are needed for kayaking and get into the water at the skirt of the Scottish Highlands.
During this activity, you will learn kayaking or how to improve your previous skills, of course, but you will also have the chance of paying a visit to historical monuments like Invergarry Castle, a building from the XVII century and the house of Clan MacDonell of Glengarry, who made popular tartan fabrics until the present day. See? This half-day kayaking trip will not only put you in contact with nature or it will be your initiation with kayaking, but it will enrich your background thanks to Scottish culture.
For your tranquillity, equipment is included and, like we've been recommending since we start our adventure here in Great Glen, you should wear your oldest pair of shoes. They will get wet and dirty!
And who will be by your side and in charge of instructing you from the moment of your arrival? Well, it can be for certain Andy Burton, our founder and one of the greatest watersport men in our country!
Book now and start having fun with this incredible 4-hour kayaking tour in the very heart of Scottish nature!
