Indeed, we're talking about Barbarafield, a land of 300 acres that was founded by the Berwick family, in particular by Christine Berwick in 1956, to spread their love for horses.

And, of course, we know that Scotland has always been related to horse riding for different reasons. Our lands have been cultivated using horses as helpers and even Queen Elizabeth used to come to Scotland to practise this activity, which is known for being one of her favourites.

If you are a beginner with horse riding, don't worry, you can ride in calm areas where you will only need to feel the animal under you and the beauty of the landscape. Horses will know that it's your first time, so they will trot slowly. If you, on the contrary, are a rider like historic figure sir William Wallace you can gallop around gaining speed.

As you know, horse riding is an activity that can be practised throughout the whole year and that's why we remain open every day except in Autumn, Winter and Spring when we close on Mondays.

Apart from that, you can come whenever it suits you and we will provide boots and equipment, though we recommend you to bring comfortable outfits and to check weather reports before coming (it may be cold here!).
