Introduction to Sport Climbing in Giggleswick, 6h

Any kind of climbing is sporty, but not all of them are sport climbing.

This term refers to a kind of outdoor climbing on crags and exposed rock, which follows fixed routes that have places for you to clip your ropes in as you go. The focus is on performance and completing challenging routes that might otherwise be above your level.

One of the best places in our local area for entry-level sport climbing is Giggleswick South, a limestone located just outside the Yorkshire Dales town of Settle. There are other crags we can use as well, please contact us for a full list.

This is a day course that lasts 6 hours. We recommend it to people with some kind of experience, whether indoor or outdoor, because we’ll be focusing on the specific techniques involved in sport climbing such as assessment of anchors and pre-clipping.

All equipment and tuition from expert outdoor guides is included. You can bring your own climbing shoes and other gear if you wish. We can run this session for a couple or a group of up to 20 people.
