Deal overview
Description of Rock Climbing ascent of Pillar, Full Day Trip
Ascend one of the most impressive peaks in England.
Pillar is a rocky tower in Ennerdale, one of the less frequented valleys in the Lake District National Park. It’s not an option for hikers, but we can lead you to the top by rock climbing.
We’ll usually meet in Buttermere to start this full-day expedition. From here, it’s a couple of hours of hiking to reach the foot of the rock face. There are several options to choose from, the simplest being a moderate-difficulty route known as Slab and Notch. This takes us to the summit. We’ll scramble back down to the trail after a rest and hike back to the starting point.
We run these trips for individuals and couples. Extensive mountaineering experience isn’t necessary, but a head for heights is! You’ll need a pair of approach shoes or strong walking boots, as well as the layers and kit you’d usually need for a day on the mountain tops.
One of our expert guides will lead the way and provide ropes, harnesses, helmets and anything else needed for the ascent and for safety.
