Description of Ghyll Scrambling route in Keswick (7yrs+) 3h
Experience over 35 years of history and adventure with us at Stoneycroft Ghyll, the birthplace of ghyll scrambling in the Lake District.
Dating back to the Victorians, this has been a true highlight of the Lake District's many remarkable sights. It has remained an absolute fan favourite with our customers, so come find out why it is so popular and entertaining.
Three hours on this action-packed expedition that begins at the bottom of the ghyll, only a 10-minute drive from our activity centre in Keswick, won't feel long enough.
Slide, dive, climb and jump on this fun-filled journey upstream past rocks and waterfalls and into plunge pools in more; if you enjoy a rush of adrenaline, you won't find a shortage of that on this exciting scramble surrounded by such natural beauty.
We take a special activity in a unique place and make it even more special as our qualified instructors use their vast experience to carefully craft a route that suits you and your group to make it as challenging as it needs to be based on your abilities as welcome adventurers of all experience levels to get outdoors and enjoy the ultimate day of scrambling suitable for everyone over 7.
This makes scrambling ideal for any occasion, whether a birthday party, corporate event or stag and hen party, as it can bring people of all ages and abilities together in a mixed session to entertain everyone. Our qualified instructors make sure everyone can have fun and feel safe doing so.
We carry out our safety precautions through a safety briefing, supplement of equipment including a well-fitting wetsuit, buoyancy aid, helmet and spray jacket, and encouragement throughout to help challenge you and make this experience worthwhile but in a way that you never feel too much pressure.
We can welcome a range of group sizes, but for smaller groups, if we have the right conditions and time, we can take you into the upper gorge section of the ghyll, which is more challenging but thoroughly entertaining and will add 20 minutes to the session.
