• Tandem jump: The next level up is a tandem. This is the real thing - free falling from the viaduct towards the River Garry - but you don’t have to face it alone. Instead, you’ll be accompanied by a person of your choice. Whether it’s your best friend, your worst enemy, or anyone in between, they’ll be put in a harness that’s connected to yours and to the same cord as you. This option is perfect for those who are worried about chickening out at the last minute, because you don’t want to look like a coward in front of your jump partner. Once you’ve completed the jump, you’ll always have someone who’s got your back if anyone accuses you of cowardice.

• Individual jump: The main event is the classic individual jump, in which a lone daredevil faces off against gravity, armed only with a rope. You have to have nerves of steel to stand on the viaduct, 40 metres above the bubbling waters of the River Garry, and jump off. Once you’ve made the decision, there’s no looking back. You’ll drop like a stone towards the water until, at what feels like the last minute, the bungee starts to stretch and slows your fall. After a couple of bounces in midair, the jump team will winch you back to the platform where you can breathe a sigh of relief.

The actual process, from leaving the jump platform to getting your feet back on the ground, only lasts a few moments. Requirements to do this activity

The Highland Swing doesn’t expose the body to as intense g-forces as a bungee jump, so this activity is more accessible. If you’re in this area with the kids you can bring them along to have this fantastic experience, as long as they’re at least 10 years old and weigh between 6.2 and 18.9 stone, or 40 and 120 kilograms.

A full on bungee jump requires the informed consent of participants, meaning that you have to be over 14 years old to sign up - and don’t leave the city without your parents’ permission if you’re under 16 years of age! There’s a maximum weight of 22.8 stone, or 145 kilograms.
