The Swingbridge Community Boats are an accredited National Community Boats Association training centre running courses for leisure and improving skills for organisations, schools, companies, families or private groups of friends.
We are also happy to accommodate requests for tailor-made sessions.
Our regular courses include:
Learn to Handle a Canal Boat with Confidence: A four-hour session, including an optional hands-on environmental activity, to qualify for a Swingbridge Certificate of Achievement. Great preparation for canal boating holiday, for team-building or just for fun.
Youth leadership programme: This course is run over four days, giving young people the opportunity to really develop competence.
Certificate in Community Boat Management: This three-day course is for experienced helmsmen or women who want to qualify as skippers.
As well as courses, we also offer accessible leisure trips along the River Wey.The trips are for up to nine people (fewer if there are wheelchairs) on Swingbridge1, our 40ft broadbeam boat with an all-weather canopy. A wheelchair lift makes the boat accessible to people with limited mobility.
Most courses are based in Guildford
