Cruise Loch Linnhe

We know them for the mountains, but a trip to the Highlands is wasted without an experience of the water.

Cruise Loch Linnhe is the boat trip service that reveals a whole new world in this enchanting part of Scotland. We are based in Fort William, which sits on the incredible inlet of the sea known as Loch Linnhe. Deep, clear and surrounded by spectacular landscapes, if it were in Norway, we’d have to call it Fjörd Linnhe.

We offer tours of Loch Linnhe throughout the year, from the long days of summer when the evenings seem to go on forever, to the cold winter when snow capped mountains surround the icy waters, counting Ben Nevis in their number. Day time tours, evening cruises and private charters are available.

But it’s not just what surrounds the loch that makes our cruises special. Loch Linnhe is a fascinating body of water, cut off enough from the North Atlantic to be generally calm, but still influenced (to the tune of 4.5 metres) by the oceanic tides. It’s a dynamic habitat that’s home to all kinds of wildlife, from aquatic mammals - seals, dolphins and porpoises - to birds such as golden eagles.

Our tour boat Elsie is a 39 ft catamaran with space for up to 65 passengers on both indoor and outdoor decks. The views are spectacular, and the boat’s low profile and manoeuvrability allow us to get up close to places like Seal Island without disturbing the wildlife. Food and drink are available to buy on board and it has toilet facilities. We welcome adults, children and babies on board - even the dog can come!
