Welcome to Blackwater Boats

We provide skippered trips for celebrations such as birthdays, anniversaries, and special occasions, or just for a relaxing day out. You can bring along your own picnic and refreshments and enjoy the tranquil river while relaxing onboard. Our skipper will take you for a relaxing day, and you can get inlvolved as much or as little as you like!

Our Location

We are based at Sandiford Lock, in Brook End, a small hamlet only about 2 miles from Chelmsford. There are excellent motorway links nearby.

Our Services

Our boats are available for celebrations and trips with friends and family, and also for unsual and fun corporate days out and hiring for meetings.

We also offer RYA courses for InLand Waterways.

Our Boats

Our newest addition is Blackwater Dawn, is a traditional and comfortable boat, and can carry up to 12 people. She has excellent facilities onbaord including:

• Large front deck where you can sit and enjoy the river views
• A small galley
• A fridge
• A gas hob
• Toilet
• Platform lift for wheelchair users
