The competition
The British Cable Wakeboard and Wakeskate National Championships are set to take place on July 23rd for the 15th consecutive year. Over 70 of the best riders in the UK will compete to be the star champion in the stunning Cotswold Water Park, an absolutely brilliant setting for such an exciting event.
These are two thrilling sports that you just won't be able to take your eyes off. Developed in the late 1980s, wakeboarding is rapidly growing in popularity, with over 3 million wakeboarders worldwide. Unfortunately, roughly 75% of all wakeboarders are males between the ages of 13-24, although at this competition you will be able to see oodles of professional female wakeboarders tearing across the water brilliantly. Wakeboarding is an extreme sport which resembles water skiing combined with snowboarding with a bit of surf thrown in. The sports
Wakeskating is a newer water sport and in this case, the wakeskater is not fastened to the board as in the case of wakeboarding, but uses grip tape. It's a bit more complex being a cross between wakeboarding and skateboarding.
You will be able to see a wide variety of daring tricks and stunts from the boarders. From Tsunami Flips to Tootsie Rolls, you won't be able to peel your eyes away.
Come along and watch Steph Caller, runner up in the National Championships and fourth in the European, Alex Newman and even the outstanding 11-year-old boarder Oscar Townsend.
The experience
You're bound to enjoy a brilliant, entertaining and excitingday in the summer sun watching this invigorating and adrenaline pumping activity. It will be an event that offers something for everyone, from families to night owls. There will be all day entertainment, live DJs and music at night.
